Gertus’ work starts where the work of consultants stops. Clients of Gertus are not only growers but also crop consultants and supply companies. He is working on the development of measuring equipment, growing models, data, (programmer) software, climate and substrates. Gerrit has over 30 years of experience in practical horticultural research. He also provides courses and training in biology, physics and chemistry of vegetables and flowers in greenhouses and plant physiology. His goal is to turn fundamental knowledge into production.

Piet Hein van Baar

Led's Consult

Active in Western Europe including the UK, North America

Piet Hein is specialized in tomato crops grown with supplemental lighting. Working at the GreenQ Improvement Center, Piet Hein was involved in the first trials done with LED lighting in tomato crops. After the first steps were taken with hybrid lighting solutions (LED+ HPS lighting), he was also involved in the first trials with 100% LED in tomato crops.

In 2015 Piet Hein started as Plant Specialist high wire crops for Signify (formerly Philips Lighting) and in this role he advised growers over the whole globe in the implementation of LED lighting in their crops. During the period he worked for Signify, he was also involved in the first trials with the implementation of LED in pepper crops.

Before he started at the GreenQ Improvement Center, Piet Hein has worked as crop specialist at Beekenkamp propagation, 8 years as a bell pepper grower at a 8 ha greenhouse and for 2,5 years as grower for Willcox Greenhouse in the USA.

In 2020 Piet Hein started his own company, named Led’s Consult, with the focus on lighted tomato crops.

André Kool is a specialist in greenhouse vegetables tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers.

Tim van Hissenhoven

Tim van Hissenhoven advises companies, mainly specialized in hydroponic cultivation and leafy vegetables and herbs in open fields, greenhouses or closed environments. Tim Hissenhoven also advises on vegetable plants. After more than 10 years working as a grower for various greenhouses in Belgium and the Netherlands, he started advising other growers around the world.

Main specialty is crop consultancy and crop planning in tomatoes. Hereby fulfilling a position between and with growers towards main management or shareholders. Other specialty is greenhouse development, finding best solutions for growers in different areas and needs for their crops.

Started as a sales consultant for Grodan in Tomatoes and later in propagation. After 4 years became product development manager for Grodan propagation products and after that 1 year managing the R&D of Grodan a/i. After that 7 year general manager at Substratus Consultancy also giving seminars all over the world about growing on Grodan and consulting big greenhouse companies 6 years.
From 2003 till 2011 I was owner of a 6 hectare big tomato greenhouse.
As off 2007 till 2013 active as crop consultant, for Green Q in Bleiswijk Netherlands.
As of 2014 independent crop advisor mainly active in USA, Canada, Germany, Suisse, and Austria. Recently looking at UAE.

Geert-Willem van de Schoot

Where Geert-Willem van de Schoot enters, passion and overview fill the greenhouse.
As a very young child he was already the right hand of his father, a grower, who learned the tricks again from his father. This results in a lot of transmitted skills.
For over 15 years Geert-Willem had his own greenhouse (cucumbers and tomatoes).
During this period he combined this with his consulting competencies, amongst others, he helped setting up the biggest greenhouse in Slovenia and supported Austrian and Dutch growers.
Growing is what is in Geert-Willem’s DNA for many generations. Therefore it is his natural habit to be on top of all what has to do with it. Geert-Willem masters the newest technologies and novelties. His mission is to gain the highest efficiency together with the grower.
Geert-Willem is working in Eastern Europe (Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia).

As the owner of StarGrow Consultancy, Willem Valstar is the youngest member of the Cropex Group. He has experience in advising crop technical aspects in different types of tomatoes since 2005. He is working mainly in the Netherlands. Beside the Netherlands his clients are also in other European countries as the UK and Poland. He is involved in the first projects with LED growing light, improving Natural Fluid System (NFT), climate steering integrating in climate computers and optimizing energy saving solutions. He works by a special developed way based on crop registration and modelling of crops.
