Before Piet Hein started Led’s Consult in 2020, he was working in the greenhouse industry already for more then 25 years. Starting picking tomatoes when he was 13 years old his interest in the greenhouse industry started to awake. After he finished the University of De Lier, Piet Hein learned how to grow tomatoes, bell peppers, young vegetable plants in the USA and The Netherlands. In 2010 he started at the Improvement Centre as greenhouse manager where he got involved in the first trials of growing tomatoes with LED-lighting. There the passion for growing crops with LED started what ended up in a role as Global Plant Specialist at Signify where he advised growers with their first steps in grpwing tomatoes with LED.
Since 2020 Piet Hein works as an independent crop consultant with a focus on bell pepper and tomato crops with or without supplemental lighting. As a consultant he enjoys nothing more then a walk in the greenhouse together with the grower(s). Discussing what they see and how to move forward to get the best results. Next to visiting the greenhouse, consultancy online also has a strong focus. Based on videos, pictures and data/ plant registration the strategy can be set to come to the best results.
